Pedicaris Alive or Raisuli Dead!

These were the words uttered by Teddy Roosevelt when American, Ion Pedicaris, was kidnapped by the Muslim brigand Raisuli, from his Tangier's home in 1904.  Teddy had no equivocation and Raisuli believed him.  Pedicaris was returned alive.  Teddy knew that it was his responsibility to protect American citizens and he took that responsibility seriously.

Regardless of the election on Tuesday, the American people need to know why the current president is not willing to protect our citizens even, for Pete's sake, an ambassador.  I mean, if an ambassador, an Obama appointee, is left to die, then how could a mere citizen expect protection.  Aren't we all just potential collateral damage for Obama's agenda? 

Consider instead a president who would have said, "Stevens alive or Muslim terrorists dead!"...well then the choice become simple and we know what we should be doing next.

Okay, I admit that I have been a bit of a slacker with my blog, but let me say this in my defense. First, my toe healed. When my toe was broken, I could not get around well so I had much more time to write.

Second, there is sooooo much to comment on with the Obama administration that I am having trouble prioritizing.

Today Obama's loose tongue made prioritizing easy. "Mr. President, leave Israel alone!" (This should be said in a sort of primal scream/outrage type of voice.)

When I first heard mention of Obama's demanding that Israel's borders be put back to the pre-1967 position, I could barely believe what I was hearing. My first thought was that maybe Obama was in some way impaired, sort of a verbal DUI situation. Then I thought it was possible that Obama was entirely ignorant of the history of Israel (which made me hope that this was a verbal DUI instead because that would be more forgivable.)

In case historical ignorance is the problem, let me address this next portion to Mr. Loose Tongue himself.

Mr. President. In 1967 Israel fought a war and through the grace of God, Israel won. It was not a war of their making. It was not a war that they provoked (except by their existence.) It was not a war that they would have chosen to fight, but they met the enemy, who out numbered them roughly 3 to 1, and prevailed. Due to this conflict, they secured land that allowed them to better protect their country in subsequent attacks. (E.G. Yom Kippur War of 1973)

Since that time, officious intermeddlers (yes that is an insult, but it is in legalize so less painful), mostly from the United States, have pressured Israel to give back these defensive lands. To what end. Now the Gaza Strip is snakes den of Arab terrorists, and the Sinai Peninsula could once again be used to mount a substantial attack on Israel as Muslim extremist gain a strong hold in Egypt. And you Mr. Loose lips, would use wicked hands to give back those strategic lands to the malignant enemies of Israel. Say goodbye to your "Osama Poll Bump," Mr. President.

Next up, Mr. Obama will announce that he is giving the American Southwest back to Mexico...that's one way to deal with the illegal immigration problem.

Happy Independence Day! Independence once again has been declared from the home of the original tea party. Personally I cannot remember a brighter day since that dark day when Obama was elected over a year ago.

This is a great victory for the Republic. I do not see it necessarily as a referendum on any one issue as much as a message to Barak Obama that he is not king! Now that the people of the bluest of the blue states has elected a Republican, maybe Obama’s kingly aspirations will be put to rest and Obama will become the public servant that he promised to be.

PS Many people have commented that they are unable to keep up with current political concerns, so here is my suggestion. If don’t have time for in-depth (and often repetitive coverage) at least try to watch The Panel on Fox News’s Special Report with Bret Baier. The Panel is made up with a variety of view points and airs in the last 20 minutes of the broadcast.

If you have time to watch one other show, then John Stossel’s weekly report on Fox Business Channel will make you think. It is broadcast several times during the week. I don’t always agree with Stossel, but he always defies accepted wisdom on a variety of subjects.

Vigilant Babysitting

Vigilance… are you kidding me! With the Obama administration it is more like babysitting!
I don’t think that this needs to be pointed out, but that has never stopped me before, does anyone really think that the Obama’s public school speech would have been so benign if the vigilant hadn’t been so vigilant.

I love the pro Obama-ites who, the day after the speech stated, “See, you had nothing to worry about.” That’s right, because the vigilant made sure that the speech was what it should be, an admonition to stay in school and not what it would have been, socialist indoctrination.

Now we have last night’s snake oil pitch for the republic-killing health care plan. Yoy! A gaggle of fifties rocker used less grease to maintain their ducktail dos. One half-truth after another and for those not adept in math, let me remind you that two half truths do not make a whole. No matter how they package it, health care is the province of society not government. I refer you to Common Sense by Thomas Paine if you don't believe me.

Thank goodness for the vigilant. We haven’t even had a year’s worth of this administration and the constant vigilance has already been exhausting due to the “transparency” of this administration. Sifting through bogus bills, vetting the duplicitous Tsars, or filtering the double speak...yep, babysitting alright. And like most babysitting gigs, we need to be most vigilant when all is quiet.

Govern-Mental Objections to Federal Healthcare

Well, I am more than a little disappointed that the “End of Life Panel” provision appears to be going by the way side. I had some wonderful thoughts about the parallels of that provision to the movie “Logan’s Run”, only to find out that the voice of the people caused reason to prevail. It is becoming apparent to me, however, that while most of us view such apocalyptic stories as a voice of warning, the current administration sees them as a wellspring of good ideas. Ah well…

It should be noted, that while many of the most obviously objectionable provisions are dying timely and deserving deaths, many less obviously objectionable provisions live on. Now is not the time for compromise or letting the guard down. While apparently less noxious, the remaining provisions are still dangerous interventions that would greatly reduce the quality of health care in this country. Think about this:

1. Veteran Administration Hospitals--Granted, they are typically staffed by hard-working, caring medical professionals, but they are always under-funded and over-worked. Remember the Walter Reed Hospital scandal of just a few short years ago? If the government is unable or unwilling to take care of our veterans who have sacrificed so much for this country, it is even less likely that the government will be able or willing to take care of the citizenry as a whole.

2. Professor Henry Gates--What does he have to do with the federal medical reform? Well think back on President Obama’s statement, “I don’t have all the facts….but the arresting police officer acted stupidly.” That statement accurately reflects the federal government’s understanding of most regional and personal issues, “I don’t have all the facts…but don’t let that stop me from making a decision for you and your family regarding your most intimate medical care.”

3. The United States Postal Service--Again, it was President Obama’s own intuitive (albeit unfortunate to his own cause)statement that was so revealing. In a misguided attempt to assure the American people that government-subsidized health insurance would not be unfair competition to private companies, he accurately stated that we should look at the example of the US Post. According to the President, it was the US Post that was having the problems, not the privately owned package delivery services. Soooooooo, what you are saying Mr. President is that the federal government is not able to handle a letter effectively, but they can handle my long-term health care…I feel so much better already. No really! I feel like I must absolutely, positively stay healthy!

Perhaps, our health care system is not perfect, but it is like the republic itself, the best alternative to any other system.
